[ARCHIVED] City Offices to be Closed Wednesday, Nov. 11 in Observance of Veterans Day

EAST LANSING, Mich. — City of East Lansing offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day. This excludes the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, which will be open during regular business hours.

City offices closed on Veterans Day will include East Lansing City Hall, the East Lansing 54B District Court, the East Lansing Public Library, East Lansing Prime Time and the East Lansing Department of Public Works.

Refuse and recycling collection will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 11 as regularly scheduled. There will be no delays due to the holiday.

Wreath Laying Ceremony Honoring Veterans on Monday, Nov. 9
 
In honor of Veterans Day, community members and members of the media are invited to attend a brief, physically distanced wreath laying ceremony at East Lansing’s Medal of Honor Memorial and Veterans Monument on Monday, Nov. 9 at 11:30 a.m.

The City of East Lansing and the Lansing-based 1st Battalion, 24th Marines will be laying wreaths in honor of all the brave men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces, including U.S. Marine Corps Reserve 2nd Lt. Sherrod E. Skinner, Jr. 2nd Lt. Skinner was an East Lansing war hero who received the Medal of Honor posthumously for bravery exhibited during the Korean War.

Attendance at the ceremony is limited to 25 people or fewer in compliance with Ingham County Health Department Emergency Order 2020-15. Masks and physical distancing will be required.
