EAST LANSING, Mich. — Motorists are advised that a road construction project is scheduled to take place on Abbot Road, from Burcham Drive to just south of Elizabeth Street, from approximately Friday, July 31 to Saturday, Aug. 15.
During the various stages of construction, the street will be closed to through traffic, but will remain open to local traffic (motorists who reside within the construction area). Additionally, the roadway will be fully re-opened to all motorists for the Aug. 4 State Primary Election.
There will be posted detours in the construction area during the road closures. The initial detour for southbound Abbot Road traffic will be Burcham Drive to M.A.C. Avenue to Grand River Avenue to Abbot Road. Access to East Lansing City Hall’s parking lots will be maintained at all times.
The scope of the work for the first phase of the project will consist of removing and replacing curbs at various locations and the scope of the work for the second phase of the project will consist of milling the existing roadway and repaving the roadway with new asphalt.
