[ARCHIVED] City of East Lansing 2019 Income Tax Filing Deadline is July 31, 2020

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Taxpayers are reminded that the filing deadline for the City of East Lansing 2019 income tax is July 31, 2020.

East Lansing income taxpayers include individuals (who live and/or work in East Lansing) trusts and estates, corporations and other non-corporate tax filers as well as those who pay self-employment tax. Individual taxpayers who need additional time to file beyond the July 31 deadline can request a filing extension by filling out an extension to file form: https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/1915/Income-Tax-Forms. An extension only extends the time to file the return. It does not extend the time to pay any taxes which may be due. If a taxpayer estimates they will owe for 2019, payment should be submitted with the extension form. Tax forms and additional information is available at https://www.cityofeastlansing.com/incometax. Completed forms and any payments which may be owed can be mailed to City of East Lansing Income Tax Processing Center, P.O. Box 526, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827; or can be dropped off in the yellow drop box in the north parking lot of East Lansing City Hall, 410 Abbot Road. At this time, East Lansing income tax forms can be prepared through online software programs, but cannot be e-filed through online software programs.

Taxpayers with questions can contact the City of East Lansing’s new income tax administrator, Jill Rhode, at (517) 319-6862 or incometax@cityofeastlansing.com.

Rhode joined the City of East Lansing on Monday, July 13. Rhode’s past employment experience includes, but is not limited to: serving as the director of financial services for Ingham County from 2008 to 2018, serving as a financial/accounting income tax executive with Innovative Software from 2006 to 2008 and serving as the city treasurer/income tax administrator and, later, the deputy finance director for the City of Lansing. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University.
