EAST LANSING, Mich. — At approximately 4:58 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, a crowd of an estimated 750 people gathered in the roadway of the 1000 block of Waters Edge Drive shortly after the conclusion of the MSU Men’s Basketball Elite 8 game.
Initially the crowd was peaceful in their celebration of the MSU win, however; within 30 minutes of the initial gathering a fire was started in the center of the crowd.
Officers entered the crowd and took 10 individuals into custody for disorderly conduct violations. These violations consisted of unlawfully remaining within 300 feet of an open fire and wrongfully propelling objects. Upon making these arrests, the crowd immediately began to disperse. No chemical crowd management devices were utilized during this incident.
