EAST LANSING, Mich. — The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) is currently investigating an exchange of gunfire that happened over the weekend in an East Lansing neighborhood.
ELPD officers responded to a call of two individuals in vehicles exchanging gunfire on Highland Avenue near Westview Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. Based on the initial investigations, it is believed that the incident involved two vehicles and was the result of road rage. ELPD officers were able to locate and stop one of the vehicles, which resulted in the arrest of an individual. Alonte Wilson, a 24-year-old man from Chicago, Ill. with Lansing ties, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon in connection with this incident. He has posted bond on this charge.
No injuries have been reported at this time; however, rounds from the incident did damage personal property.
