EAST LANSING, Mich. – Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare their taste buds for the Downtown Chili Cook-Off, taking place Saturday, March 28 from 1-4 p.m. in downtown East Lansing. The event is free and open to the public.
Beggar’s Banquet, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cosi, Harper’s Restaurant & Brewpub, HopCat, Leo’s Coney Island, Potbelly Sandwich Works and What Up Dawg? will all compete for the “Best East Lansing Chili” title.
The businesses will provide free samples of chili to downtown patrons, who will be asked to rank the samples in the following areas: Color, Aroma, Flavor and Heat. In addition to bragging rights, the restaurant that receives the most points will be advertised in a local newspaper and receive the Golden Spoon Trophy.
“We are excited to highlight the dining options in downtown East Lansing with this new, exciting event,” said East Lansing Downtown Management Board (DMB) Coordinator Amy Schlusler. “We invite the community to come out and help us in determining downtown East Lansing’s best chili.”
This is a DMB-hosted event. The chili will be served at the locations/businesses listed above and balloons will be affixed to the outside facades of all of the participating businesses. Visit www.downtownel.com for more information.
