[ARCHIVED] Special Check Presentation for MLK Commission to Take Place Friday, Jan. 17

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Members of the media are invited to a special check presentation for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission of Mid-Michigan on Friday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m. at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road.

Cinnaire will present the MLK Commission with a generous $50,000 check during the special presentation. Additionally, MacDonald Broadcasting will present a $50,000 check (in-kind support), LAFCU will present a $20,000 check, Jackson National Life will present a $17,500 check, MSU Federal Credit Union will present a $12,500 check and Delta Dental and Lake Trust Credit Union will each present $10,000 checks. All members of the media are welcome to attend.

The funding will help support the MLK Commission, which works each year to support equality, diversity and social justice in the mid-Michigan region. Among its many accomplishments, the MLK Commission annually provides scholarships to graduating seniors, hosts essay contests for local middle school students and helps support a variety of community agencies.

The MLK Commission also hosts the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration each year in tribute to the inspiring civil rights leader. This year’s event will take place on Monday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at the Lansing Center, 333 E. Michigan Ave.
