[ARCHIVED] Downtown East Lansing’s Green Friday to Take Place Dec. 6-7

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Green Friday (& Saturday too!) – downtown East Lansing’s special version of the popular day-after-Thanksgiving Black Friday shopping sales – will take place Dec. 6-7.

Holiday shoppers will enjoy a variety of sales and specials at the shops, galleries and restaurants located in downtown East Lansing. Business hours will vary among participating merchants.

“This is a great opportunity to support local downtown East Lansing businesses, while taking advantage of some great sales and specials during the holiday season,” said East Lansing Community Development & Engagement Manager Amy Schlusler-Schmitt.

Parking validation will be provided to participating businesses to hand out to customers during the two-day shopping event (while supplies last). Downtown parking will also be free at all gated lots and garages from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 for the Winter Glow event.

A list of participating businesses and sales/specials is available online at www.cityofeastlansing.com/GreenFriday.

Winter Glow

The City of East Lansing’s annual Winter Glow event will take place in conjunction with the Green Friday shopping event on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 2-5 p.m.

The winter-inspired festival will feature a wide variety of fun-filled activities, including ice carving, horse-and-carriage rides, a winter farmers market, a heated music tent, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, family-friendly activities and games, winter photo scenes, marshmallow roasting, merchant activities, roasted nuts, a community art project and donation-based hot chocolate with the East Lansing Art Festival and much more.
