Meet the Trainer
Jessica has worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, nutrition coach and gymnastics/ninja coach in many settings and thrives on connecting with the amazing people she gets to work with. She uniquely personalizes every training session and strives to make the hour with her the best hour of her clients' week! Laughter and fun are essential to a successful workout routine.
Jessica developed a passion for fitness and sport at the early age of seven when she joined the summer recreation track and field team and went on to try nearly every sport offered throughout her school years. The flame was reignited again in 2008, when she started skating for the Maine Roller Derby league and became the all-star team captain. After Roller Derby, she felt an absence and knew what she must do - leave her corporate career to become a fitness trainer!
Jessica has experience with all ages and all abilities with a focus on functional strength training and lean habit nutrition coaching. She has worked directly with sports therapists to learn how to program around injuries and other limitations. She holds a personal training and sports nutrition certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and studied pre- and post-natal specialization through the American Council on Exercise.
How to Get Started
Please complete a new client packet, which includes a Personal Training Client Questionnaire Form (PDF) and Personal Training Health Screen Form (PDF), and return to the East Lansing Hannah Community Center. A trainer will reply within three to five business days.
First Appointment
The first appointment with a personal trainer will include discussion about the completed forms and address any concerns. Wear comfortable, appropriate clothing and bring clean athletic shoes that have laces. Participants may wish to bring a water bottle. Staff suggest not coming hungry to the appointment. The first visit may take 45-50 minutes and includes a variety of assessments and/or screenings that will help the personal trainer best design a customized strength and/or cardio program for each individual.
