Historic District Commission

The Historic District reviews proposed alterations and additions to the exterior of structures within historic districts, provides educational materials and programs on preservation principles and practices. Members include one registered architect and four residents of designated historic districts. View Historic District Commission By-Laws (PDF).

The Historic District Commission consists of seven members serving three-year terms who meet monthly.

Upcoming Public Hearings

Public hearings (PDF) will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the 54B District Court, Courtroom 2, 101 Linden St.:

1. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a request from Ray Evert, for the property at 214 Kedzie St., to install new double four vinyl siding and aluminum soffit, fascia, and gutters.

2. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a request from University Equities, LLC, for the property at 429 Hillcrest Ave., to replace three 2-pane sliding windows on the front of the structure with replacement windows.

3. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a request from Steve Moe, for the property at 300 Bailey St., to install new lighting fixtures on the site.

4. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a request from Ryan Henry, for the property at 318 University Dr., to replace the front porch to the house, changing the material from concrete to wood.  

5. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a request from Bill and Lauren Potter, for the property at 619 Charles St., to add a 16 ft. x 18 ft. concrete slab for parking in the rear of the lot.

6. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a request from Daniel Bollman, for the property at 720-740 Ann St., to add two new permanent awnings over the existing entry stoops.

7. A public hearing will be held for the purpose of considering a resubmission request from Daniel Bollman, for the property at 329 M.A.C. Ave., to relocate the entire structure to a new site within the City of East Lansing to open the lot for redevelopment.
