Vendor Application
The East Lansing Farmers Market (ELFM) vendor application is now available. The application should be downloaded, then either emailed to khewitt@cityofeastlansing.com or mailed to ELFM, Attn: Karla Forrest-Hewitt, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. Applications are due by April 14, 2023. Prospective vendors are encouraged to review the information below prior to filling out their application.
Review Process
Prospective vendors must attest that they have read the guidelines for the 2023 ELFM season. Questions should be directed to khewitt@cityofeastlansing.com. Applications are reviewed on an annual basis and open stalls will be offered to applicants based on 1) the type of produce and products sold and 2) the date of application. Prior participation does not guarantee a spot in the market. Once accepted into the ELFM, vendors will sign a vendor license agreement with the City of East Lansing. All agreements are reviewed by the East Lansing City Manager. The vendor license is limited to the dates that the ELFM is operating and the license does not grant permission to sell or do business outside of market hours.
Food Trucks
***A new process is required for food truck vendors in 2023. Food truck vendors must complete a different application than the ELFM vendor application. It will be reviewed by the Planning, Building and Development Department. Food trucks and onsite hot food vendors will need to complete the City of East Lansing’s Mobile Food Program application. Find more information about the Mobile Food Program here.
Vendor Information Sessions
It is recommended that once they are accepted into the 2023 ELFM, vendors attend one of two vendor information sessions. One session will be in person and one session will be virtual. At these sessions, important information regarding the ELFM will be shared, including required paperwork, the East Lansing Income Tax and market guidelines. The in-person session will also provide vendors with an opportunity to make payments and turn in paperwork. Dates/times of the sessions are provided below. Vendors will be notified of the location/virtual meeting link for these sessions at a later date.
- May 22 (in person) - 5-6:30 p.m.
- May 26 (virtual) - 5-6:30 p.m.
East Lansing Farmers Market Advisory Committee
Commencing with the 2021 ELFM season, a Market Advisory Committee, comprised of three full-time vendors, the market manger, City staff and three community members, will be formed. The Committee will adhere to the market guidelines and help represent the market. Members of the committee will serve predetermined terms and be appointed. Community members who are interested in becoming a member of the East Lansing Farmers Market Advisory Committee should contact khewitt@cityofeastlansing.com for details.
