Residents can exchange their old mercury thermometer for a new oral digital thermometer for free. The exchange is open to Ingham County residents only and is good while supplies last. Only one oral digital thermometer is available per family. However, families can bring in as many mercury thermometers as you like for proper disposal.
Mercury thermometers brought in for exchange must be double bagged. Place thermometers in a Ziplock bag, then place that in another ziplock bag and seal. Thermometers not bagged properly will not be accepted.
Bagged mercury thermometers can be taken, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed for the noon lunch hour), to:
