City of East Lansing Tree Manual

The City of East Lansing “Tree Manual” details standards of practice, guiding policies and everything else that residents, developers and contractors need to know about working on or around City trees. Permit scenarios, species and spacing requirements, planting/maintenance best practices and more are included here. Residents may also find it a useful resource for planting and pruning their private trees.

This manual was developed with generous support from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service through its Urban and Community Forestry Program, the goal of which is to preserve, protect, expand and improve Michigan’s urban and community forestry resources.
