Registered voters unable to vote in person at their polling location on Election Day may cast an Absentee Voter Ballot.
How to Request an Absentee Voter Ballot for the November 5, 2019 General Election
A registered voter may request an Absentee Voter (AV) Ballot by completing and mailing the AV Ballot Application (coming soon!) or by appearing in person at the East Lansing City Clerk’s office, 410 Abbot Road, beginning in September 2019.
The City Clerk's office will have special hours on the Saturday prior to the election (November 2, 2019) from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to issue and receive AV Ballots.
The last day to have an an AV Ballot mailed is Saturday, Nov. 2 for the General Election. The last day a voter can apply for an AV Ballot and have it issued in person is Monday, Nov. 4 by 4 p.m. for the General Election. All AV Ballots must be returned to the City Clerk's office, not the precinct, by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
How to Return an Absentee Voter Ballot
There are two ways to return an AV ballot:
By mail: A voter may mail their ballot to the East Lansing City Clerk’s office. The mailing address is 410 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. The postage is 71 cents to return the ballot.
In person: A voter may return their ballot in person to the East Lansing City Clerk's office up to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
