Registered voters unable to vote in person at their polling location on Election Day may cast an Absentee Voter Ballot.
How to Request an Absentee Voter Ballot for the August 7, 2018 Primary Election
A registered voter may request an Absentee Voter Ballot by completing and mailing the Absentee Voter Ballot Application (coming soon!) or by appearing in person at the East Lansing City Clerk’s office, 410 Abbot Road, beginning in June 2018.
The City Clerk's office will have special hours on the Saturday prior to the election (August 4, 2018) from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. to issue and receive Absentee Voter Ballots.
The last day to have an an Absentee Voter Ballot mailed is Saturday, Aug. 4 for the Primary Election. The last day a voter can apply for an Absentee Voter Ballot and have it issued in person is Monday, Aug. 6 by 4 p.m. for the Primary Election. All Absentee Voter Ballots must be returned to the City Clerk's office, not the precinct, by 8 p.m. on Election Day.
How to Return an Absentee Voter Ballot
There are two ways to return an absentee voter ballot:
By mail: A voter may mail their ballot to the East Lansing City Clerk’s office. The mailing address is 410 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. The postage is 70 cents to return the ballot.
In person: A voter may return their ballot in person to the East Lansing City Clerk's office up to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
