The project involves the construction of a new, four-story, mixed-use building with approximately 6,484 square feet of non-residential space (including a bank with a drive-through) and a total of 39 two-bedroom apartments and the associated parking. After a recommendation from the Planning Commission and the Downtown Development Authority, the East Lansing City Council voted in approval of a Site Plan and Special Use Permit that was submitted by Gateway of East Lansing, LLC on May 6, 2015. The approval was contingent upon the termination of certain easements.
The project broke ground on October 12, 2015 and the project is expected to be completed by fall 2016.
