Payment Due Notices

Parking Overnight is permitted in gated lots and garages. Vehicles will receive a Payment Due Notice on their vehicle at the time of closing (3 a.m.). Customers are responsible for the hourly rate starting from the time entered until closing. Customers will be responsible for hourly rates after 8 a.m. the following day.

Payment Options


  • Pay at U-Pay Station
    • Place the payment due notice and U-Pay receipt in the provided envelope and place in drop box located at the exit of each parking lot / garage. Note that if you did not receive a receipt, call (517) 337-1277, Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Pay online
    • Please use Remit Online and make sure you have the payment due notice # available.
  • Pay by mail
    • Send check, payment due notice and entrance ticket in a self-addressed envelope to the City of East Lansing Treasury Department, 410 Abbot Road, East Lansing, MI 48823. Make checks payable to City of East Lansing.
  • Pay in person
    • Pay at the Treasury Department, 410 Abbot Road, Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Pay by phone
    • Call the Treasury Department at (517) 319-6860 to make a credit card payment. Please have the payment due notice # available.

Fee Calculation


To calculate your fee, compare the military time on your entrance ticket to the time on your notice, calculate the length of time parked and compare to rate chart on the provided envelope. If your entrance ticket is lost or not returned with your payment due notice, the amount you owe will be the maximum daily rate.

Unpaid Notices


After 7 days, the City of East Lansing will charge the maximum daily rate. After 30 days the notice will become a citation for failure to pay parking fees.
