About the Program
The Hazardous Sidewalk Program provides for the inspection, notification and repair to sidewalks located within public rights-of-way. The sidewalk system has been divided into 11 sidewalk districts.
Property owners are responsible for the maintenance and cost of repairs to sidewalks adjacent to their property. However, in some instances the City may be responsible for replacement costs if the repair was caused by tree roots from a parkway tree. The City is also responsible for sidewalk ramps at street intersections.
The 2011 Hazardous Sidewalk Program will continue in the Glencairn neighborhood. It will likely begin this fall and will continue into spring 2012. Additional construction information will be posted closer to the start of the project.
