The Capital Area Housing Partnership (CAHP) has submitted a proposal to redevelop the Bailey Community Center Building, 300 Bailey St. The proposed project contains one- and two-bedroom senior (55+) apartments, space for a private daycare provider, office space for CAHP, additional commercial space and community spaces (including the current gym), which will be open to the public.
After hosting community meetings to discuss options for future uses of the Bailey Community Center Building, the East Lansing City Council was presented with a Proposed Plan (PDF) for the building from Capital Area Housing Partnership (CAHP). The CAHP proposal aligns with the results of the City of East Lansing's public engagement process and has received positive feedback from the community. With this in mind, City Council voted to pursue a pre-development agreement with CAHP.
Staff will be working with CAHP as expeditiously as possible to meet all necessary deadlines so that CAHP can apply for state funding, which will make the project feasible. View City Approval Schedule (PDF).
