City Attorney

The City Attorney is retained by the East Lansing City Council to conduct for the City all cases in all courts and before all legally constituted tribunals whenever the City is a party. The current City Attorney is Thomas M. Yeadon, who is employed by McGinty, Hitch, Housefield, Person, Yeadon & Anderson, P.C. When necessary, the City Attorney may designate assistant city attorneys.

The City Attorney provides legal counsel, legal opinions relative to every aspect of City government, including municipal legislation, contracts and agreements. The City Attorney prosecutes violations of all City ordinances and codes brought before the 54B District Court and on appeal to any higher appellate levels.
